Created in 1904 for aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Santos de Cartier is widely credited as the first modern men's wristwatch, and this stainless steel example carries forward every hallmark of the original design: the squared bezel with eight exposed screws, the railroad-track minute chapter, blued steel sword hands, and the signature Roman numeral dial that has defined Cartier's identity for well over a century.
